Invite Erin K. Casey
to Your Classroom, Camp, or Conference
Bring imagination, courage, and unforgettable storytelling to life with author visits that inspire kids to read, dream, and big.
I'm Erin Casey, the author of the Zany Zia's Hats to Where series for middle-grade readers.
One of my favorite things to do as an author is talk with students about writing, reading, art, and publishing. My hope is to encourage them to get excited about reading and becoming creators.
I studied journalism and, over the past twenty-plus years, have been a magazine editor, a book reviewer, a book editor, and have helped authors publish more than 300 books. I’m also a ghostwriter and multi-published author.
I love words, and I love helping people discover and share their stories!
I look forward to meeting you!
Popular Presentations for In-Person and Virtual Author Visits
How do you go from idea to published?
(all grades)
What does it take to write and publish a book? In this interactive session, students learn the steps of writing and publishing and where their talents and interests fit into the book publishing process.
Where do stories come from?
(3rd - 5th grade)
This session will focus on one of my books (the teacher can choose in advance to align with a unit, or the kids can choose the book to discuss).
An All Knight Adventure—a focus on courage… and a fire-breathing dragon
Lost in Comanche Country—set in the Texas Hill Country in the mid-1800s, with a focus on friendship
A TITANIC Adventure—a focus on kindness and escaping the sinking ship!
I’ll read a portion of the story aloud. Then, we’ll talk about . . .
Where the idea for the story came from
What research I did for the story
How to plot a story while leaving room for creative adventure
Get to Know an Author
(K – 2nd grade) In-Person only
I talk about how authors bring real-life experiences into their stories.
There will be a “Day in the Life of an Author” slideshow.
We’ll read one or two picture books (depending on time) and talk about what makes them so fun!
Each session is followed by a time of Q&A where students can ask questions about writing, publishing, dragons, my pets, or favorite superhero—or just about anything else.
Tip: Have students write down their questions ahead of time to allow for more students to ask questions.
Plan Your Visit
Each presentation lasts 40 - 45 minutes (much depends on the age group/grade level).
*Rates are estimates and ultimately subject to dates, locations, and school specifics (i.e., special requests). Travel costs are not included in these estimates and would apply to school visits outside the Central Texas area. Contact me for further information.
**Please do not let the suggested rates keep you from reaching out about a visit. I am willing to see what we can do to work within your budget.
